Kit List Cycling
WE WILL PROVIDE: |
A working and maintained mountain bike |
Mountain bike helmet (mandatory 1) |
Padded gloves (mandatory) |
Eye protection (mandatory) |
YOU WILL NEED TO BRING WITH YOU: |
Suitable cycling clothes2 |
Drinking Bottle or Camelbak type bladder for water3 |
A snack or energy food that you like - flapjack, energy bars, dried fruits and nuts are best |
An extra warm layer4 |
A waterproof top |
A small rucksack (max of 25 litres) |
An extra old towel for changing (it may get muddy so not your best laundry!) |
Personal medication |
Sun cream |
A waterproof notebook and pencil is sometimes useful, but not essential |
You won't need to carry tools, a trailside repair kit or a first aid kit as your coach/guide will have all of this.
NOTES: 1. Mandatory means you will have to wear these items! 2. No jeans, no heavy joggers, sensible shorts if warm. NO baggy trousers or short shorts! 3. You should try to carry water for at least 0.5 litres per hour. 4. Such as a Fleece or thermal base layer, even in summer.
Please do not feel you need to buy specialist equipment for this course unless you want to, or already own these items.
A lot of gear used in other outdoor pursuits, such as walking, will often transfer across for use during mountain bike activities.
Remember, this is not a fashion parade, and your items will get muddy, dusty, possibly wet, and the risk of snagging on bushes, branches or even the bikes, is a distinct possibility.
The following items are not allowed: IPod/MP3'S; Jewellery, except watches and stud earrings; any kind of toy. Mobile phones will be at the Leader's discretion.
