Places of Interest

There are many areas of interest to suit a wide variety of people. Northumberland boasts some of the most beautiful coastlines, and with its plethora of castles makes for an interesting day out. Close to the centre is the Roman Wall, with Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths & Museum just a three minute walk away from Wallsend Metro and Bus Station. Housteads, another Roman Fort built on the Wall, is also worth a visit, and is just a half hour drive from the Boat Station. Just an hour's drive away is Beamish Museum, a must for anyone who wants to see real life in the olden days. Newcastle City Centre, with its vibrance and diversity has some of the most beautiful architecture as well as an excellent selection of high street shops. The Quayside, with its many restaurants and bars, make for a lovely evening out, while the famous Tyne Bridge is one of many that span the River Tyne, demonstrating the area's excellence in engineering.

A bit further away is Durham City, with its beautiful cathedral this is a quaint historical town with cobbled streets, and unique craft shops in which to browse. The City is also a Castle World Heritage Site.
